Programs of Study

Trendz currently offers two barber-centered programs of instruction:

  • Class A Barber 1000 Hour
  • Cosmetology Operator to Class A Barber Crossover 300 Hour

Both programs are clock-hour based and are taught concurrently. The clock-hour education is provided through curricula and lesson plans addressing knowledge and steps necessary for state exam preparation, graduation, and job entry-level skills. Both programs encompass the same instructional methods and grading system

The programs are presented through comprehensive lesson plans which reflect effective educational methods. Subjects are presented by means of lecture, demonstration and student participation. Audio-visual aids, cooperative learning, labs, role-play activities, round table discussions, guest speakers, field trips, projects, career-oriented activities, and other related learning methods are also used in the programs as needed.

Program instruction is divided into theoretical sessions, heavily diving into textbook and workbook literature with lecture and class participation, and practical sessions, where students will correlate the theory that has been taught and have the opportunity to practice learned techniques on mannequins and/or live models under the supervision of experienced instructors during practical floor time.

Every Wednesday is reserved for classroom theoretical instruction. Educational sessions, whether theoretical or practical, are provided through a sequential set of learning steps which address specific tasks necessary for state board preparation, graduation, and job entry level skills. Practical equipment, implements, and products are comparable to those used in the industry. Each student will receive instruction that relates to the performance of useful, creative, and productive career-oriented activities
